Question 1

Is the valuation really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The valuation is free and comes with no obligation, at your home or from photos. Travel is free in Paris and Île-de-France.

Question 2

Do I have to sell after the valuation?

Accepted Answer

No. You can keep everything, take time to think or ask for other opinions. If you want to sell, we make you a separate offer to buy.

Question 3

How do I send you photos on WhatsApp?

Accepted Answer

Send them to 06 24 56 38 58. Photograph the whole item in daylight, then take close-ups of signatures, hallmarks and flaws, and give its dimensions.

Question 4

Which areas do you cover?

Accepted Answer

Paris (75) and Hauts-de-Seine (92), Val-de-Marne (94), Yvelines (78), Essonne (91) and Seine-et-Marne (77). We are based in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

Question 5

Should I clean an item before showing it to you?

Accepted Answer

No, leave it as it is. Cleaning a bronze, waxing furniture or gluing porcelain back together can reduce its value.

Question 6

How does payment work?

Accepted Answer

Payment is immediate, as soon as we agree. It is made by bank transfer.

Question 7

Why do you not pay for gold in cash?

Accepted Answer

Because the law does not allow it. In France, buying gold and precious metals from a private seller cannot be paid in cash, so we pay by bank transfer.

Question 8

Why do you ask for an identity document?

Accepted Answer

Like every professional who buys second-hand goods, we must record each purchase in a register, with the seller's identity (article 321-7 of the French Penal Code).

Question 9

What items do you buy?

Accepted Answer

Mainly clocks and watches, period furniture, antique jewellery and gold, silver, coins and medals, old postcards, paintings, porcelain, Asian art and curiosities.

Question 10

Are there items you do not buy?

Accepted Answer

We only buy what we know we can sell on. An item can be pretty without finding a buyer today: in that case, we tell you honestly.

Question 11

How much does a house clearance cost?

Accepted Answer

We do not give a price without seeing the place. The price depends mainly on the volume, the access, the floor and what we can buy. The visit is free.

Question 12

Can the clearance be free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The amount of what we buy is taken off the price of the clearance, and when it covers it, the clearance is free.

Question 13

What happens to the items you do not buy?

Accepted Answer

What can still be used is given to Emmaüs, Secours catholique, the Armée du Salut or nearby reuse centres. The rest goes to the tip or to recycling.

Question 14

Can your valuation be used for an estate?

Accepted Answer

It helps the heirs and the notaire (the French notary) see clearly, but it is not an inventory in the legal sense. Your notaire will tell you whether an official inventory is useful, for example instead of the 5% furniture allowance.

Question 15

Can items from an estate be sold before it is shared out?

Accepted Answer

As a general rule, all the heirs must agree. If the estate has not yet been accepted, ask the notaire for advice first: selling can count as accepting it.

Question 16

Where can we find you at weekends?

Accepted Answer

On our stand at the Puces de la porte de Vanves, avenue Marc Sangnier and avenue Georges Lafenestre, Paris 14th, or at a flea market in Île-de-France. Send us a message before you come.
