Who are we?

Murier Antiquités is the antique and second-hand dealing business of Baptiste Murier, based in Issy-les-Moulineaux, in Hauts-de-Seine. At weekends, we have a stand at the Puces de Vanves flea market, in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. You can also run into us at flea markets around Île-de-France.

We also visit private clients at home, in Paris and Île-de-France, for three things:

• valuing their antiques, for free and with no obligation;
• buying what they want to sell, with immediate payment;
• clearing a house or an apartment, first buying what has value.

What we most like to look at

Our areas are clocks and watches (mantel clocks, wall clocks, watches), period furniture, antique jewellery and gold, silver, coins and medals, old postcards, paintings, porcelain, Asian art and curiosities.

Each has its own clues: a hallmark on a spoon, a signature on a dial, a mark under a plate. It is often a small detail that tells where an object comes from. For clocks and watches, see our antique clock valuation page.

How we work

We take the time to explain

When we look at an item, we tell you what we see: the material, the likely period, the signature, the condition. You understand where the value comes from, or why there is not much. A valuation only makes sense if you understand it.

An honest price, explained

We give you the item's market value, then what we can offer you as dealers. We explain the difference between the two. If an item deserves to be sold another way, for example at a public auction, we tell you. You remain free to say no.

Discretion

People call on us at delicate times: a death, a move into a care home, a sale that cannot wait. We respect the home, the memories and everyone's pace. What we see in your home stays in your home.

Nothing is thrown away if it can still be used

What we do not buy but can still be used is given to Emmaüs, Secours catholique, the Armée du Salut or nearby reuse centres. The rest goes to the proper channels, the tip or recycling. An object often has more than one life.

Where we travel

Paris (75), Hauts-de-Seine (92), Val-de-Marne (94), Yvelines (78), Essonne (91) and Seine-et-Marne (77). Travel is free, whether for a home valuation or for a house clearance.
